Mario Benedetti (1920-2009) was author of an extensive body of work covering all genres. He wrote stories, novels, essays, and was a prolific poet.
Miguel Cabañas Bravo is a researcher at the Instituto de Historia del Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales del CSIC, Madrid. In 2009 he colaborated on the books '¿Verdades cansadas? Imágenes y estereotipos acerca del mundo hispánico en Europa'; 'Arte en tiempos de Guerra'; 'Los artistas del exilio y sus museos'; and in 2008 in 'Arte, poder y sociedad en la España de los siglos XV a XX'.
The author was born in Badalona on the 17th November 1967. She has a doctorate in Chemical Science and has lived in the US since 1998, currently in Providence where she is a researcher and lecturer in the department of Molecular Biology and Immunology at Brown University. In 2008 she wrote the novel Créixer amb Poe (Growing Up with Poe), for which she won the Premio Joaquim Ruyra for children's fiction.
M. Chust Calero is a professor at the Universidad Jaume I de Castellón. He is a specialist in the significance of the Courts of Cádiz in America, in Iberoamerican independence, and in the construction of the nation-state in Mexico. He is co-editor of 'Doceañismos, independencias, constituciones' (2006), and organized the 3rd International Conference on 'Las independencias in Iberoamerica' in 2004. He is director of the Centro de Investigación de América Latina (CIAL) at the Universidad Jaune I and is currently president of AHILA.
