Faced with the challenge of writing about the complex city of today, and the impossibility of taking on the impenetrable urban maze that is Buenos Aires - in reality, it contains various different cities, each with its own character completely distinct from its neighbour's - I saw only one possible option: to concentrate on 'my' city (the reason for the title of this book), the delineated space in which my now long life has taken place. There will be readers who reproach me for not mentioning the tango, La Boca neighbourhood, the nightlife or Corrientes street. I have preferred to leave these places where they belong, in the pages of the many tourist guide books which exist on the subject. The notable exception is the Teatro Colón, because it occupies a special place in my life.
