My Beloved Buenos Aires
Ernesto Schoo was born in Buenos Aires on 12 October 1925, and since 1948 he has worked as a journalist, specialising in culture, art and performance. He has worked at Argentina's main newspapers and magazines - on some occasions as director of their cultural supplements - including the legendary Primera Plana & Noticias, where he was theatre critic for 12 years. Today he is a columnist and theatre critic at La Nación in Buenos Aires, and a permanent contributor to the newspaper La Gaceta de Tucumán. In 1988 he became a fellow of the Guggenheim; between 1996 and 1998, director general and artistic director of the San Martín Theatre in Buenos Aires, and member of the directorate at the National Arts Fund between 2000 & 2004. He is a knight of the Order of Arts & Letters of the French Ministry of Culture, and an official of the Order of Merit of the Republic in Italy.
