A thirty-five-year-old writer leaves the city to return to his parents' home in a village in the south of Catalonia, under pressure from the crisis. There he finds himself both a native and a stranger, in an inverse trajectory of discoveries. When he is asked to make the opening speech at the local festival, he wonders how to summarise his relationship with the landscape and its history. Walking and smoking, he reflects on the differences between urban and rural life, the weight of roots and the irony of an honour that is, for him, the confirmation of failure.
