The wealthiest family in an inland city is composed of the Wife, her Husband, their two young children, the Wife's mother and Amalia, the maid. In the large house where they live, everything is impeccable but appearances can be deceptive. The Wife is Consuelo, a very handsome young woman from a poor family, married off by her mother to assure them both of a comfortable future, but she lacks confidence in her position. When the Husband takes Amalia and the family with him to a Mediterranean city where he is to take part in a conference on morality on Spanish beaches, Consuelo has a glimpse of another, freer and more sensual life, while her husband is astonished to discover just how far the foreign women, the new tourists of the early fifties, will go in flaunting morality. No one will return home unchanged.
