A member of the terrorist group ETA, known as Iñaki, gets in touch with a former friend, Eduardo, who is now a journalist because he wants to defect and to collaborate with the Spanish Government. As soon as the news reaches the CNI (Spanish Intelligence Agency), they send Miguel Maestre, a well trained spy, to contact Iñaki.
Despite the initial suspicions from both sides, the first meeting proves to be beneficial and the police are able to avoid a terrorist attack and to arrest some members of the band. Meeting after meeting the two characters will develop their peculiar relationship, based on confidences and on exchanges of information.
Things, though, get complicated when Iñaki goes back to his home village to visit Izaskun, the woman he loved when they were teenagers, and exposes himself. Why is he so uncautious? When Maestre finds out that Izaskun, Iñaki and Eduardo were more than close friends in the 70s, he realises that something else is going on there… Maestre won’t stop until he finds out, even if his personal quest means disobeying orders and acting at his own risk and thus becoming an imperfect spy.
