A Mallorcan writer living in Barcelona is given the job of writing a biography of Dora Bonnín, a stunning and controversial theatre actor who has recently died leaving a series of intimate diaries. Little by little the protagonist uncovers the dark secret hidden in these diaries - a secret which could damage the standing of a powerful local family, the Verderas, and their empire. Dora was married to Higini, heir to the Verdera estate and, by chance, their son, Leo, was a close childhood friend of our writer. Their unexpected reunion takes the writer's life in a direction that obliges him to confront his past. Melcior Comes narrates a psychological adventure that explores how we understand the world and indeed ourselves and describes a homecoming that entails the discovery of a painful family mystery.
