In a lonely forest, two teenagers are brutally attacked by a supernatural being. In their statements, they both say that their assailant was a zombi. Inspector Laura Tébar takes on the case. She is a fifty-five, brilliant, solitary, and has a redoubtable character forged during a past filled with mistakes that can never be corrected. Against her will, she begins to work with Deputy Inspector Merino, a young man with few talents but a lot of intuition and motivation. They are like chalk and cheese, and it isn't long before they begin to disagree. The novel offers an authentic clash of wills between these two characters who will do anything rather than show the minimum of respect that would allow them to work together and confront the mysterious, violent and apparently invulnerable creatures that come out of the depths of the forest to attack, and then disappear without trace.
