Coming of age in a Spain in the throes of 'apertura' (the political and economic 'opening' that took place in Spain during the 1980s) that followed the Transition from dictatorship to democracy. Angel, protagonist of Natural Law has an urgent need to find a meaning in things, to discover an order, especially because his family has always been a model of instability and disorder. His father, an erratic actor in B movies and Demis Roussous imitator, has an irrepressible tendency to run away. His frequent appearances and disappearances leave an invisible but indelible impression on each of his four children. His mother, meanwhile, is a woman in love who, sick of trusting him, will have to make superhuman efforts to take the reins of her own life in a Spain that has still not fully shaken off francoism. Through Angel we get a glimpse of Barcelona in the 1970s and Madrid in the 1980s.
