We have all seen that documentary in which gnus migrate in search of fresh pastures and are forced to cross a river infested with crocodiles. Every year the herd crosses this river, but not without leaving behind some of its members: thanks to these victims, who satisfy the crocodiles' hunger, the herd can continue on its way. And this is also the case of the protagonists of this book: gnus who have to confront a crocodile infested pool without knowing if they will be the ones who are sacrificed. Many of them are adults, visited by the adolescent they were. Seen from a distance, never in situ, the adolescence of the individuals in this herd can be reflected in inevitably unfulfilled ambitions or achievements that come too late, when they are nothing more than a naive celebration that breeds nostalgia.
