This is a story in which goddesses, cows and first love all intermingle. A marvellous, realistic tale about one summer in a northern city, and about the discovery of sex. With his father on remand, young Ludi Rivero Pelayo is free to enjoy life with no authority figure bearing down upon him, and the summer is his. His father is not just involved in political action, which is what has occasioned his trial, but is also caught up in problems with a woman. And his son lets himself get trapped in a similar web. Over the course of the summer, Ludi enters adulthood. A languid, beautiful woman leads him down unexplored pathways towards a love with no future, but pleasurable nonetheless. And this beginning has classic shades: his uncle and his tutor make him attend Greek lessons and in the foothills of Mount Véspero, on whose Venusian summit he receives the teachings of an old boxer, updated as a monk.
