The murder of a woman at the hands of her husband leads to concern among her neighbours: why has such a quiet, seemingly peaceful old man committed such a crime? Who were they? Why were they hiding in the village? What were they running away from? And above all: is it true that this same man, fifty years ago, killed the woman's first husband? What at first seems to be another case of domestic violence is soon revealed to be a much darker story. Inspired by real events, 'Bailes de medio siglo' dances in a period only hinted at and around multiple voices, investigating the shadowy half-century this couple have lived together, united by a debt of blood. In doing so it demonstrates that no matter how much a country advances, there are passions, such as love or the desire to possess, and emotions, such as fear, solitude and dependency, that remain just as primitive as they once were.
