Thirteen tales which tell the stories of diverse people, places and times.
In the port of Manhattan in 1936, Sam Balter boards a boat which takes him to the epicentre of the Nazi atrocity. King Farouk I steals a sabre from the Shah of Iran and a watch from Churchill. Big Don gets the African American congregation of San Francisco Bay dancing. In Argentina, the wizard Mandrake performs his tricks while a generation disappears from time. Jim Carroll sells his body on Central Station while NYC burns. At the mouth of the Mekong, Kim Van navigates the net while her uncle observes her from a distance.
These thirteen tales attempt to find common ground in the world crisscrossed by basketball, and the author's aspiration is that they will sound a note reminiscent of jazz.
