A tribute to the digital generation of young Arabs and their role in preparing the way for the uprisings against dictatorships that rocked the Near East and North Africa. The protagonists are in their early thirties and their work was crucial in creating a new language of dissent and activism for change: individual but collective, autonomous but collaborative, local, regional and now global. This book highlights the importance of the internet in promoting freedom of expression in the Arab world, but above all it is the gripping story of a group of boys and girls who took advantage of all the opportunities provided by the internet with courage and creativity, to raise awareness, politicize and mobilize a generation that the world did not expect to wake up.
