Federico Volpini Was born in Bogota in 1952 and moved to Madrid a year later, although he spent a large part of his childhood in Sweden and Belgium. In 1977 he began working for Spain's national radio, where he was head of Radio 3 from 1999 to 2003.
An established author of radio serials (his work 'Herederos del tiempo' was awarded the most important European prize, the Premio Italia), he has published books on radio (Diseño de programas en radio —Paidós, 1995—, co-author M. A. Ortiz.), novels such as 'El enigma del caballero en el espejo' (Alfaguara, 1996), stories (Panta Rei —Libertarias-Prodhuffi, 1992—; Las horas del gato y otras horas —Libertarias, 1986—, con el seudónimo El Soso Cáustico; Ciencia y ficción en El Mono Temático —Celeste, 2001— y Trelatos —Celeste, 2002—), and screenplays for cinema and television.
