Rafel Nadal (Girona, 1954) is a journalist, writes in La Vanguardia and regularly works on RAC1, TV3 and TV8. He was editor of El Periódico de Cataluña from May 2006 to February 2010, during which time the newspaper was awarded the National Communications Prize (2008), the prize for the best newspaper given by the European Newspaper Congress (2008), the Society for News Design's prize for the best front page (2007) and the prize for best design in Spain and Portugal (SND, 2007). Before this he worked on the chief national newspapers and held a variety of important positions in publishing companies and communications groups. In 2011 he published Los mandarines (The Mandarins). His novel Quan erem feliços (When We Were Happy) won the Josep Pla prize in 2012.
