The Posada of Souls
Luisa Gonzalez was born in 1967 in Cabra del Santo Cristo (Jaén). Her name first became known with the short story “Palabras” (Words), which won the Premio Relatos de Mujer in 2001. She won the Premio Novela Corta Fuente Agria 2003 with Tiempos de Tregua (A Time of Truce) and in 2004; she was runner up in the Premio de Novela Corta Gabriel Sijé for Hielo (Ice). El buscador de guaces (The Tomb Seeker, Edhasa, 2006) guaranteed her a place as one of the most original and interesting voices in current Spanish fiction. In 2008, she received a prize in the Certamen Internacional de Relatos Cortos Filando Cuentos de Mujer for “El hijo póstumo (The Posthumous Son).
