New Spanish Titles - Year 2013

Magda, a young woman aged 21, leaves her home town and decides to go and do her final year of medical school in Barcelona. Behind her she is leaving everything: a boyfriend, a family and her university degree. Her best friend Bel has committed suicide and Magda would rather start her training at a new hospital far away from there to stop herself from asking why she did nothing to prevent it.

Pergamino is the son of Mikhola, the librarian of An, a mythical Slavic kingdom. A story about a missing cursed book, conceited prophetesses and sly oracles and creatures and powers as old as night. One night Pergamino senses that his father is threatened by a vampire, who curses him and takes away what he treasures most: his ability to talk, read and write.

I´ve spent the last ten years traveling the arc between Tripoli and Kabul, meeting the bombed, the prosecuted, the displaced… When war comes home, it knocks it down. It´s always a peculiar sensation to travel into situations that others are trying to leave. The signposts along the journey aren't places, but people, and they are constantly on the move.
