Pilar Fernández Uriel id a Doctor of Ancient History and director of the Department of Ancient History at UNED. She is a member of a variety of associations and academic institutions and The Academia Real acaddemic advisor for the History of the Spanish Enclave of Melilla. She carries out the greater part of her research with the Museo Nacional de Arte Romano, Mérida, on the I+D+I research project on Roman Portugual, headed by Trinidad Nogales and in the UNED GEA group. Among her publications with UNED are: El mundo griega, Purpura: Del mercado al poder. With Luis Palop, she co-authored the monograph Nerón: la imagen deformada.
