Jordi Sierra i Fabra was born in Barcelona in 1947, the only son of an ordinary family, he had to battle against many circumstances, including parental opposition, to achieve his dream of being a writer. His connections with the world of rock (as the director and founder of some of Spain's biggest music magazines of the sixties and seventies) helped him become popular without distracting from his main aim, to write the stories that were bubbling inside his head. He published his first book in 1972, and today he has four hundred titles to his name, many of which have been bestsellers. He can also boast 30 literary awards, and over a hundred honorific recognitions and mentions. In 2005 and 2009 he was the Spanish nominee for the Hans Christian Andersen Children's Nobel Award.
