Emilio Lara

(Jaén, 1968) is a doctor of anthropology and a professor at the Institute of Geography and History. He has published several history books and dozens of articles in Spanish, Italian and French university magazines and research centres. He participated in the creation of the Spanish Biographical Dictionary of the Royal Academy of History. He has also won several literature, history and journalism prizes. He is the author of the historical novels La cofradía de la Armada Invencible [The Brotherhood of the Invincible Armada] (2016), El relojero de la Puerta del Sol [The Watchmaker of Puerta del Sol] (2017), for which he won the 24th Andalusian Critics' Prize and the 19th City of Cartagena Historical Novel Prize, and Tiempos de esperanza [Times of Hope], for which he won the Edhasa Historical Narratives Prize.
