A Smart Guy
Xosé Monteagudo (Moraña, 1965) is a law graduate and began his literary career when he was runner-up in the Modesto R. Figueiredo prize in 2001 for the short story 'O engado do triángulo'. His first novel, As voces da noticia, won the Premio Blanco Amor in 2002; in this work, the author uses transcriptions of taped material, e-mails, interviews and even judicial acts to weave a plot in which each of the author's voices reflects his perception of the events.
In 2006, he published his second novel, also with Galaxia, entitled Esta historia (This story), in which he reconstructs a teenage biography from his university memories. He regularly contributes literary criticism to the magazine to Grial. In 2009, he recieved the Premio García Barros for this novel.
