Francesco Tonucci is a researcher at the Institute for Cognition Science and Technology of the Italian National Center for Research (CNR) in Rome. His professional activity has been aimed at studying the thinking and behaviour of children, in family, school and city environments. From 1997 to 1999 he chaired the Committee TV-children. Renowned illustrator, he signs his cartoons as FRATO. Among his books are to be highlighted Con ojos de niño (1987), La soledad del niño (1994) y La ciudad de los niños: un modo nuevo de pensar la ciudad (1996). He is the creator and is responsible for the international project The city of children, which proposes changes in the management of cities taking the children as an environmental and sustainability parameter.
