Ricardo Alcántara

Ricardo Alcántara (Montevideo, Uruguay). From an early age he understood that imagination could make a good travelling companion and, since then, they have been inseparable. For a time he lived in Brazil, where he started writing, but he has lived for years in Barcelona, near to the sea. He has worked as an actor, artisan, chef... He studied Psychology and perhaps that helped him to discover himself and his true vocation: to invent stories which he then writes down with a pencil on a piece of paper. He has published 200 books, all written for children and young people, and many of them have been awarded prestigious prizes, such as the Lazarillo, the Serra d'Or, Apel les Mestres, Espasa Calpe, White Ravens... His books have been successfully translated into English, Turkish, German, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Greek, Korean.... He has also written plays for theatre and a television series.
