A terrible murder of two women has taken place in Rue Morgue, in Boston, two blocks from the funeral home where the young Edgar Allan Poe lives with his adoptive family. When one of his neighbors is unjustly accused, Poe goes to the police and proves his innocence. Inspector Auguste Dupin, leading the case, is not only surprised to be confronted with the eye of a dead man in a glass jar with formaldehyde, or by the fact that the young Poe is dressed completely in black, but by the intelligence that the boy shows when demonstrating the innocence of his neighbour. And for all these reasons Dupin asks him to join his team of investigators to find the real killer. In addition to recognition for his work, if he succeeds in identifying the killer, Poe will be given a monetary reward, allowing him and his brothers to travel to Dublin to find their biological father.
