We are all different. With this in mind, we are introduced to Cándido, an unusual person with a great need to express himself to the world around him, to be understood and accepted. It is rare for such a seemingly simple text to bring about such profound and necessary reflection on a society as complex as today's. The protagonist feels like an outsider, he shares his take on other people with his readers and we are also aware of how others perceive him. Distanced from the uniform mass and their tendency to follow changing trends, Cándido can feel out of place but tries to go unnoticed; he is sensitive to insecurity and the loneliness being ignored can make you feel.
