Anjel Lertxundi

(NaOrio, 1948). He won the 1999 Premio Euskadi de Literatura for the novel 'Argizariaren egunak' ('Los días de la cera' ('Days of Wax'), Alfaguara, 2001). In 1994, he was shortlisted for the narrative category of the Premio Nacional de Literatura for 'Otto Pette' ('Las últimas sombras' ('The Last Shadows'), Seix Barral, 1996; Alberdania, 2007), and featured in the Spanish edition of '1001 Books to Read Before You Die' (Peter Boxall & José-Carlos Mainer). He won the Premio Nacional de la Crítica in 1983 and in 1991. He was awarded the Premio Rosalía de Castro in recognition of his contribution to literature. In 2010 he won the Premio Nacional de Ensayo for 'Eskarmentaurako paperak' ('Vida y otras dudas' ('Life And Other Doubts'), Alberdania, 2010).
