Eugenio Fuentes (born Montehermoso, Cáceres in 1958) has managed to establish himself as one of the best known Spanish crime novelists outside Spain thanks to his private detective Ricardo Cupido, the main character in his books 'El interior del bosque' ('The Heart of the Woods'), 'La sangre de los ángeles' ('The Blood of the Angels'), 'Las manos del pianista' (The Pianist's Hands'), 'Cuerpo a cuerpo' ('Body to Body'), 'Contrarreloj' ('Against the Clock') and 'Mistralia'. He has been awarded the Premio Extremadura a la Creación, the 4th Premio Alba / Prensa Canaria and the Brigada 21 prize for the best crime novel of 2018. He has also published 'Venas de nieve' ('Veins of Ice') and 'Si mañana muero' ('If I Die Tomorrow') with Tusquets Editores. His most recent book, 'La hoguera de los inocentes' ('The Bonfire of the Innocents'), is a non-fiction book on the different forms intolerance has taken over the course of history.
