Pedro García

Pedro García Martín is an academic and a writer. Professor of history at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, he has taught at institutions in Italy, Finland, Portugal, France, Russia and held positions in the Spanish departments of colleges in Boston and New York. He has also delivered various instalments of the MOOC La España de El Quijote. In terms of research, he has published various books on the rural world in modern Europe, the perception of the countryside, the Order of Malta, pilgrimages and crusades, Russia under the Tzars, and, extensively, on the culture of Golden Age Spain. As an author he his works fall under various literary genres and include 'Las novelas Ruter el Rojo' ('The Novels of Ruter the Red') (EDHASA, 2005); 'El químico de los Lumière. Cazadores de colores en La Belle Époque' ('The Chemical of the Lumières. Colour hunters in the Belle Époque') (Algaida, 2007, winner of the XII Premio Ciudad de Salamanca); 'La Virgen de Lope de Vega' ('Lope de Vega's Virgin') (Atanor, 2011) and 'El lobo de Ávvakum' ('The Wolf of Ávvakum) (Planeta de Libros, Click Ediciones, 2015).
