Antonio Lozano

Antonio Lozano was born in Tangier in 1956. He studied translation and interpreting, and resides in Agüimes (Gran Canaria), where he was the local councillor for culture between 1987 and 2003. He is the director of the Festival del Sur-Encuentro Teatral Tres Continentes, and of the Festival Internacional de Narración Oral 'Cuenta con Agüimes'. His first novel, Harraga (Zoela, 2002), was praised by writers such as Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, Dulce Chacón and Fernando Marías. It won the I Premio Novelpol for the best noir novel published in Spain, and received a special mention from the jury of the Premio Memorial Silverio Cañada 2003 for the best first noir novel, organized by Semana Negra in Gijón. His second novel, Donde mueren los ríos, was shortlisted for the I Premio Brigada 21.
