Chains
Born in Bergondo, A Coruña in 1974, XABIER LÓPEZ LÓPEZ is one of the best known of Galician writers. His work, which has been translated into Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese, covers both fiction for adults and children's and young literature. His first adult work was Doutor Deus (Dr God, 1999), is one of his most ambitious novels. This was followed by, among others, O Caderno (The Notebook, 2001: Premio Risco for Fantastic Literature and Premio Lueiro Rey for short novels), El mono en el espejo (The Monkey in the Mirror; 2002 / Baile de Sol, 2014: shortlisted for the Premio San Clemente), and La vida que nos mata (Life Doesn't Kill; 2003 / Funambulista, 2014: Premio García Barros and Premio de la Crítica Española). Cadenas (Chains, 2013) was awarded the Premio Xerais, the most prestigious of Galician literary prizes, and the Premio Fervenzas Literarias for both best book of the year and best adult fiction.
