Roger Ventós, an internationally famous operatic baritone, had somewhat strange origins. He was born in 1939 in the French city of Sète, but at the age of 15 his mother sent him to Barcelona to live with his uncle Lluís Ventós, a stagehand in a music hall in El Paralelo. There, behind the scenes of the Maravillas theatre, Roger discovered his true family, beyond his blood relations, and began taking singing classes in the Liceo. From then on Roger lives between two poles: the warmth of his home in the Maravillas and the personal independence offered by the exigencies of singing. As we follow his brilliant operatic career, we also see through his eyes the innevitable changes in the Paralelo theatre.
