Juan José Millás was born in Valencia in 1946. He is the author of novels Cerbero are the Shadows (Sésamo prize, 1975), The Vision of the Hanged Man (1977), The Empty Garden (1981), Wet Paper (1983), Dead Letter (1983), The Disorder of Your Name (1986), That Was Loneliness (Premio Nadal, 1990), Going Home (1990), Stupid, Dead, Invisible Bastard (1995), In Alphabetical Order (1998), Don’t Look Under the Bed (1999), Two Women in Prague (Primavera de Novela prize, 2002), Laura and Julio (Seix Barral, 2006), The World (2007), which won the Planeta prize, the Readers’ Qué Leer prize and the National Narrative prize, and What I know About Little Men (Seix Barral, 2010). His journalistic work has received awards including the Manuel Vázquez Montalbán cultural journalism prize, and various work been translated into 23 languages.
