In this novel, Yolanda Scheuber uses the time honoured technique of racconto, as well as employing a first person narrative, enabling her to reconstruct the life of Eleanor(Leonor) of Habsburg, daughter of Joanna(Juana) I of Castile (Joanna the Mad), and Philip(Felipe) of Austria (Philip the Handsome). Thus, in the last moments of her life, Eleanor begins to reminisce about her history, burdened above all by the weight of obedience. While Eleanor was destined to inflame divisions between the Habsburgs, and even became queen of Portugal and France, there is very little written information available about her today. In spite of this, the author has managed to produce a well researched historical novel. With great credibility, she succeeds in describing the life of the palace, the political problems, the alliances between kingdoms, the disproportionate gains and the unbridled ambition... representative of those times.
