J.M. Guelbenzu

Among his books are: La noche en casa (A Night Home, 1977), El río de la luna (Moon River, 1981), which was awarded the Critics' Prize, El esperado (The Expected, 1984), La mirada (The Look, 1987), La Tierra Prometida (The Promised Land, 1991), winner of the Plaza & Janés prrize, El sentimiento (Feeling, 1995), Un peso en el mundo (A Weight in the World, 1999), Esta pared de hielo (This Ice Wall, 2005) and El amor verdadero (True Love, 2010). Under the pseudonym J. M. Guelbenzu, he is the author of six detective novels: No acosen al asesino (Don't Hound the Murderer, 2001), La muerte viene de lejos (Death Comes from Afar, 2004), El cadáver arrepentido (The Repentant Corpse, 2007), Un asesinato piadoso (The Pious Murderer, 2008), El hermano pequeño (Little Brother, 2011) — winner of the Torrente Ballester prize for its "masterly construction of a plot enriched by complex psychological character development, subtle creation of atmosphere and an authentic depiction of present day Spain"— and Muerte en primera clase (Death in First Class, 2012).
