Having graduated in Arab Philology, she made her first incursion into the literary world with the translation of the novel La epopeya de los miserables (The Harafish) by Naguib Mahfuz. She was a literary critic on the supplement Libros of El País from 1988 to 1990. She worked for eight years in the Madrid Escuela de Letras as a lecturer in creative writing and Head of Studies and Projects. She presently lives in France, where she does research and writes. She is married with two children.
