José Miguel Parra Ortiz (Madrid, 1968) has a PhD in Ancient History from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where he also obtained a Masters in Translation. He has given seminars and conferences on Ancient Egypt in several Spanish universities in addition to numerous cultural associations and societies of friends of Egyptology. He is the author of an important collection of works on the most diverse aspects of the history and society of Ancient Egypt, among which the most notable are: Los constructores de los grandes pirámides (The Builders of the Great Pyramids, 1998), Cuentos egipcios (Egyptian Stories, 1998), La vida amorosa en el antiguo Egipto (Love in Ancient Egypt, 2001), Las pirámides: Historia mito y realidad (The Pyramids: History, myth and reality, 2001), Gentes del valle del Nilo (The Peoples of the Nile Valley, 2003), Historia de las pirámides de Egipto (The History of the Egyptian Pyramids, 2nd edition, 2008) and Historia de Egipto: Sociedad, economía y política (The History of Egypt: Society, economy and politics, 2009).
