The Centre for Sociological Research (CIS) is an autonomous administrative agency with its own juridical personality and patrimony, attached to the Ministry of the Presidency. It aims at the scientific study of Spanish society, primarily through survey research.
Since its inception, CIS has helped, by conducting 1762 public opinion surveys, to better understand the attitudes and values of the Spanish population. For its part, the Department of Publications and Research Promotion develops an intense editorial activity to disseminate high-quality and scientifically rigorous research in social sciences, as well as to promote the exploitation of data generated by the institution itself to contribute to a better understanding of Spanish society. All this takes place through a process of close collaboration with the education and research community both at Spanish and international levels. The result of all this activity are the Revista Española de Investigaciones Sociológicas or Spanish Journal of Sociological Research (REIS) and the various collections of books.
