Caterina Albert (1869-1966), known by the literary pseudonym Víctor Català, cultivated a love of poetry and theatre from a young age. It was in the area of fiction, however, that she had a critical influence at the start of the 20th century. Her stories, which she calls Rural Dramas (the title of her first collection), are highly original and associated fully with Modernism, which she did not abandon for her whole career.
