The ugly bourgeoisie
Miguel Espinosa (1926-1982) was born in Caravaca (Murcia) where he has lived for most of his life. He studied law and worked for two Japanese companies in the area of import and export, and latterly as a legal adviser for various companies. The books he has published include 'Asklepios', 'Tríbada' (books now re-published by Siruela), 'Escuela de Mandarines' (Ciudad de Barcelona prize) and 'La fea burguesía' (both re-issued by Alfaguara). His unpublished works include: 'Cartas Morales', 'La Feliz Gobernación', 'Conversaciones con Europeus', 'Filosofía de Elucidaciones' and 'Lenguaje filosófico'. Independent from literary fashion and trends and brimming with thought, irony and lyricism, he is considered one of the best writers of 20th century Spanish literature.
