José González Torices was born in Quintanilla del Olmo (Zamora) and lives in Valladolid. He qualified as a teacher in Tarragona and studied Hispanic Philology at the Universidad de Barcelona. He also studied Dramatic Arts in Madrid with a grant from the French Embassy. In 1978 he founded the publishing house Castilla Ediciones with José Antonio Rodríguez Lozano. He has edited the Fuente Dorado collection for Child and Youth Theatre of Caja España, the Zoo de Papel collection of Youth Literature in Ediciones Paulinas, Madrid, and now edits the Campo de Marte collection of Child Theatre and the Galería del Unicornio collection of Youth Theatre for the publishing house CCS in Madrid. In 2005 he set up the Asociación Leer es Crear (Reading is Creating), aimed at encouraging reading, of which he is president, and the well-known magazine Leer es Crear.He contributes to the national press and specialist magazines, in addition to the publishing projects Santillana, Anaya, Bruño, Everest and SM.
