Antonio Rodríguez Almodóvar

Antonio Rodríguez Almodóvar (Alcalá de Guadaira, Seville, 1941) is a writer with a long literary career. Professor of Spanish Language and Literature, he is the author of over 40 works. He has worked in almost all genres: the novel (Variaciones para un saxo [Variations for a Sax]), the essay (La estructura de la novela burguesa [The Structure of the Bourgeois Novel]), drama (La niña que riega las albahacas [The Child Who Waters the Basil]), poetry (A pesar de los dioses [Despite the Gods]), children’s literature (Cuentos de la media lunita [Half Moon Stories]), television scripts, literary criticism, and newspaper articles. Among his most important awards are the Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil 2005 for El bosque de los sueños (The Forest of Dreams); the Internacional de Narrativa Juvenil Infanta Elena 1991 for Un lugar parecido al Paraíso (A Place Like Paradise); and the Ateneo de Sevilla de Relatos 2004 for El hombre que se volvió relativo (The Man Who Turned Relative). He is president of the Asociación de Amigos del Libro Infantil y Juvenil.
