SYNOPSIS

Josetxo Mayor climbs Mount Ulía, overlooking San Sebastian, every day, to clear tracks. Javier Etxepare has reconstructed two hundred watersprings. Xabier Cabezón knows the Leitzarán Valley inch by inch. These people have chosen a piece of the world and devote their efforts, their time and money to look after it. Others like them repair the damage that hurts their little territory, strive to pamper visitors so that they can enjoy them.
Along the twenty-five chapters of the book, Ander Izaguirre realizes that these early-rising characters get to the road with a hoe, a sickle, a log or diving gear. They are custodians to secret landscapes in Biscay, Guipuzcoa, Alava and Navarre. They save some knowledge that cannot be forgotten. With their small gestures, they keep the world going.

La Voz de Galicia. Paco Sánchez. Column on the back page.

Years ago I said in an interview that one learns to write by envy. Only those capable of such a vice may feel pain while looking at a text or words written by others and think: “I should have written that". This envy appeared again yesterday when I started reading the latest book by Ander Izagirre (Cuidadores de mundos, Altaïr). Twenty-five reports that read like twenty-five stories, except that the protagonists, landscapes and events are all real, although they may seem the work of a fabricator of legends.

Diario de Navarra. Nerea Alejos. Navarre.

... A tireless traveller, writer and journalist, Gipuzkoa-born Ander Izagirre has travelled the world from Greenland to Djibouti (Africa), yet he admits that there is no need to travel to remote places to find amazing stories. "At first you are dazzled by the exotic, but little by little my map has become smaller. I found I could work just as well near my house as if I were in Australia," he admits.

Diario de Noticias. Fernando Garayoa. Navarre

"The interesting thing about a trip are not the miles, but the looks" Immersed in ever-present globalization, Ander Izagirre, who already has a round-the-world trip in his backpack with the Pangea expedition, decided to publish a compilation of small worlds which surround us and are usually unknown to us, why?
