A village in Romanesque times
Jaime Nuño Gonzalez was born in Gumiel de Mercado (Burgos), and currently resides in Orbo (Palencia). He has a degree in Archeology and Medieval History by the University of Valladolid. Nuño has taken part and directed more than fifty archaeological works. His main work since 1985 is linked to the Fundación Santa María la Real. He is currently director of the Centre for Romanesque Studies of said institution, where they have launched projects to study Romanesque art, such as the Encyclopedia of the Romanesque in Spain (of which he is general coordinator) and the Romanesque Art Documentation Center (under development). He has also worked in iniciatives to make Romanesque art more accessible to the public. He has written fifty articles related to the art, history and culture of the Middle Ages, as well as work connected to the management of Cultural Heritage.
