Pacho Murga, a spoilt, amoral rich kid who has come a long way down in the world, is serving time in the Salto de Negro prison. There he meets Dimitri Urroz, an ambiguous and explosive character with a mixed heritage from Russia and Navarre. Dimitri will become his protector and complicate his life in an adventurous journey through the surreal rural setting of northern Navarre and the most extreme excesses of Moscow. The novel's theme of the burden of guilt and its impossible exoneration, is expressed through an intrigue and a betrayal which are gradually revealed, leading to an ending as sharp as the edge of an oyster shell.
A daring mixture of the black novel and the theatre of Esperpento Picaresco and tragi-comedy, this is the mature work of a novelist and personality with a unique vision and style
