Marek Laskowski was born in Glasgow in 1947. He studied Philosophy and subsequently pursued an eclectic career path, which has included operational research, community work, a smallholding in Ireland, working for the NCCL (now Liberty), software development in the fields of housing and communications, and computer consultancy. For the past fifteen years he has been a partner at Primrose Hill Books.

Kate Griffin is Interim Co-Director of the British Centre for Literary Translation at the University of East Anglia. A freelance literature consultant and specialist in international literature translated into English, Kate has developed partnerships in the Middle East, China and Europe. In 2010, she co-ordinated International PEN’s network of Free the Word! literary festivals around the world. From 2001 to 2010 she worked for Arts Council England as a literature officer, with a particular focus on international literature, publishing and translation. From 2005-2010 she was a judge for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize.

Briony Everroad is an editor at Harvill Secker. She specialises in fiction in translation and works with authors Jo Nesbo, Karin Fossum and Andrey Kurkov among others. In 2010 she founded the Harvill Secker Young Translators' Prize.

Lorna Scott Fox was brought up in Chile, and later worked for Chile Solidarity. In 1986 she left teaching in London for journalism in Mexico, where she became involved in the contemporary art and literature worlds. Translation, reportage, criticism and curating continued in Spain until 2004. She has contributed reviews and diaries to the London Review of Books since 1994, and also reviews for the Nation. Her translations from French and Spanish include drama, film scripts, non-fiction and short fiction. Longer translations this century include The Mexico City Reader (Wisconsin, 2004) and Pablo Picasso–Gertrude Stein: Correspondence (Seagull, 2008).

Nick Caistor is a British translator from Spanish and Portuguese. After living for several years in Latin America, on his return to Britain he began to translate fiction by Latin American and Spanish authors. He has now translated some 40 works of fiction, and in 2006 and 2008 was awarded the Valle Inclan prize for translation from Spanish. He has been part of the New Spanish Books project since it started.

David Mantero was born in Malaga in 1978 and studied Philosophy, graduating in 2000. In 2001 he moved to London where he’s worked in bookselling for almost 15 years. Currently David is Head buyer at Stanfords. Stanfords is one of the world’s best known map and travel book specialists founded in 1853.
